Awards

These awards were the result of the PCS Singers Brampton participating in an adjudicated process sponsored by The Brampton Arts Council. Participation afforded the choir a professional photograph session as well as a professional adjudicator attending each of that seasons’ performances. The adjudicator met with the choir immediately after the performance, giving positive feedback and suggestions for future performances. A more complete written adjudication provided further direction for artistic development. An awards ceremony completed Brampton’s artistic season. These awards provided great encouragement for the choir to continue and develop.

PCS ‘Home for Christmas’ CD

The selection of well known Christmas songs and carols included on this CD was compiled to ark the much anticipated Peel Choral Society Annual Chritmas Concert tradition. ‘Home for Christmas’ is also a proud representation of this choir’s work, b ringing communities together to enjoy and reflect on the sounds of the season. Many of these classic melodies – in arrangements for choir – have been sung throughout the Peel Choral Society’s 33 year history, and for its members these have become an important part of their Christmas tradition.

We welcome the Cawthra Girl’s Choir – a new generation of voices – working with us and also Bass, Michael Downie, for adding his uniquely personal interpretation to several selections. We trust that you may come to enjoy the few lesser known pieces included as our tribute to Canadian composers.

We hope that these selections find you home for Christmas with memories that shine of light and hope and peace.

2001: Music for Light, Hope and Peace

One of the most significant recent events organized by the Peel Choral Society was a multi-choir concert held after 9/11, 2001. The concert, “Music for Light, Hope and Peace”, featuring seven choirs and the Peel Regional Police Chief’s Ceremonial Band, was held in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, March 22, 2003.
