Artistic Director – Mervin Fick

Mervin’s creative leadership as artistic director, conductor and voice teacher has been transforming choirs, inspiring individuals, and raising the performance levels of community, church and professional choirs for over 35 years. One of the greatest gifts that Mervin brings to singers under his direction is his ability to inspire truly joyful singing.

In addition to PCS Singers Brampton, Mervin directs  MCS Chorus, Toronto Beach Chorale, and the National award-winning Esprit Chamber Choir, an acapella ensemble founded on an academy of choral singing with intense study involving discussion, demonstration and practice of choral skills. Mervin has led three choral tours in Europe, showcasing Canadian works.

Mervin is a Graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Music (B.Mus. OrganPerformance), Diplomas in both vocal performance and pedagogy from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Diploma and certificate in Service Playing from the Royal Canadian College of Organists. Mervin is in great demand as a clinician, voice teacher, performer, coach, and choral conductor.

Mervin appeared on an episode of Vision TV’s God’s Greatest Hits, discussing the cultural impact of Handel’s Messiah, the passion it ignites in singers and the authenticity this brings to a performance. He also enjoys the challenge of conducting new and innovative choral commissions; in 2009 Mervin conducted the Mississauga Choral Society in the world premiere of jazz musician David Mott’s Creation at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre which was recorded live by CBC Radio2.
